Brainstorming is a basic building block of idea generation, and to practice it effectively one needs a set of rules and an attitude. This workshop builds on the fundamentals of brainstorming and expands to a number of different ideation techniques. It will examine why brainstorming sometimes fails to produce interesting outcomes and what to do about it.
Participants will learn a series of idea generation techniques based on association, provocation, combination, analogy and imaging and a few principles of idea evaluation and selection. These principles and techniques will be practiced on participant’s own challenges or case studies.
Among techniques taught are brainstorming, S.C.A.M.P.E.R, analogies, magical idea, picture association, squid-sketching, guided visualization, catastrophe scenario, Angel’s Advocate, image streaming and more.
